Clarity for iPhone - let there be light.
Clarity "One tap to awesomeness" seems like a nice app right there, but the reason I'm telling you about it is their video which is a good pisstake of all those scenes in countless crime TV-shows where some clever guy at a computer "magnifies background 400%" and "enhances bitmap ratio" and other made-up magic to find the perp lurking in the shadows of grainy CCTV-footage shot at night in dark alleyways. Or better yet, finding the reflection of the perp in the window of a passing car somewhere in the background of a grainy CCTV-shot.
While we might not be quite there yet, we do have a nifty little app that makes the useless iPhone camera a little less useless. Hooray!
The results are so good that you’re going to think that we sold our souls to achieve them.
Louis Vitton sued Nadia Plesner again over Darfur-child with purse - 190.000 euros & counting
Welcome back to 2008 - that's when Louis Vuitton sued Nadia Plesner over the Darfur T-shirt. Now they're suing her over a painting called Darfurnica. See Darfurnica on Nadia PLesner's website.

"Ads sell more than product" - Killing us Softly by Jean Kilbourne
Jean Kilbourne, Ed.D., launched a movement to promote media literacy in the late 1960s to prevent the problems and public health issues she saw, including violence against women, eating disorders, and addiction. The connection was advertising and media. She is internationally recognized for her groundbreaking work on the image of women in advertising and her critical studies of alcohol and tobacco advertising, and if you never heard of her before, today would be a good day to give her a few minutes of your time. Five, to be exact.
A nod to the women in advertising on International Women's day
March 8 marks the centenary of the international women's day and here at adland we figured we should tip our hat to the pioneering women in advertising. Like the Former Executive Vice President of Gardner Advertising Company, Erma Perham Proetz. You might have heard of her pseudonym Mary Lee Taylor who shared recipes from the PET milk test kitchen, that show ran for over 20 years.

Hello Hikimori! Welcome to their world.
Hello Hikimori™ the independent design studio, which was founded in 2004 by Nathalie Melato and David Ronhel and is based in Paris, with cross-discipline expertise in graphic design, digital and motion graphics has launched their new site.
It's like candy. Ear-candy, eye-candy, yummy hard candy.
Which is no surprise really, as they've had much experience in creating awesome web content before, they created the ultra-moody True Blood website, have launched Diesel "only the brave" in Berlin, as well as made a poppy pink Glee French website, and a cowboy smoking Justified web. Have fun exploring their work at Hello Hikimori™.
The Beancast 140: the analysis of the analysis
BeanCast 140: Analysis Of The Analysis 2011 is out, where myself, Bill Green @mtlb the creative strategist at BFG, Ken Wheaton @kenwheaton the managing editor at AdAge, and Doug Zanger @zanger creative consultant at Creative Bohemian, speak about the superbowl analysis post-superbowl. Yeah, we analyze the analysis, it's so very meta. We had fun doing that - and veered into the territory of Epic super bowl ads which prompted my post about that.
WCRS art director and founder Ron Collins dies at 72
Sad news in Adland, as Ron Collins has joined the great agency in the sky on Monday. He was one of the names on the door at Wight Collins Rutherford Scott, WCRS, the agency he founded with Robin Wight, Andrew Rutherford and Peter Scott in 1979, after a successful climb up the Art Director ladder at Collett Dickenson Pearce in the 1970s. Basically, that's two really hot London agencies in the heyday of London creative work. You might know him best for the long running Cinzano campaign directed by Alan Parker, where Leonard Rossiter plays a clumsy man who punches well above his weight and has managed to marry Joan Collins whom he keeps spilling drinks on.
The Beancast: Groupon, Kenneth Cole and Facebook ads pre-bowl chatter
Before the Big Game™ I was on The Beancast with Chris Baccus, Executive Director of Social Media, AT&T (Also has an automotive blog at automarketingblog.com), Jeff Cutler, Content Specialist, JeffCutler.com, and Valeria Maltoni, Principal, Conversation Agent. We spoke about everything from wee Facebook ads to Kenneth Cole's twitter failure to Groupon, who seem to have taken a page from the Kenneth Cole book of advertising. Just to point out y'all, before the Groupon debacle last night, I totally called it pre-game.
That happened right before the bubble burst... this is a bad sign isn't it?

The Beancast 134: Flash Photo Lawsuit
I was far too buzzed on an energy drink that tastes just as bad as you'd think when The Beancast kicked off a show discussing that flash photo BMW ad, Net Neutrality, the new buzzword "Social Video" set to take over after Viral is now deemed officially dead as a word, and global car brand names. It really is a miracle I didn't cuss on the show considering what that Honda was named in Norway....
Toward the end of the show, I talk a bit about a Robyn video: the "killing me" video, in case you missed it.
Had a blast with Bill Green (@mtlb ), our favorite Make the Logo Bigger Art Director and the and Co-Host of AdVerve, got to hang with Matt Ridings, ( @techguerilla ) a Marketing Consultant who writes at The Tech Guerilla, and Peter Shankman, (petershankman ) Author/Speaker at Shankman.com. Be sure to get the show on iTunes or simply download it right now, but you'll have to wait for the outtakes to hear us cussing.

MMA Writer or Film Maker
So it looks like that Bear Frazer, veteran music writer and longtime contributor to FIGHT! Magazine is in the midst of launching an MMA Movie Franchise entitled The Bam Theory.
He has huge support from the MMA community, including fighters Jake Shields and his editor. But he's relying on new social media platform KickStarter.com to help launch his film making career.
I think it's pretty interesting to see him asking for funds to make his dreams come true. He needs to raise about $3,200 and has a long way to go, but you gotta give the kid props for using his experience to get awareness for his project.
You can donate to The Bam Theory here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bearfrazer/the-bam-theory-become-apa...
Grey Stockholm moves their entire site to Facebook
On Tuesday this week, Grey.se underwent a transformation, now there's simply a link to facebook.com/greystockholm there.
We're moving to Facebook
We want to be where people already are, and 2.5 million Swedes are on Facebook, so that's why we have moved our site to Facebook.
their facebook comment explains.
It's no clever use of youtube like BooneOakley.com is, nor is it the very clever javascripted Modernista.com social web framing of Modernista work on the web, but it's a move. To Facebook. Why?
Two weeks into school, and the students are already selling apps they made
There's a school in Malmö Yrk.es (a clever URL spelling out "profession"), that prides itself in giving students hands-on experience and projects so that the students learn by doing, and it looks like their iPhone classes are already paying off in spades. It's only two weeks into the course and the apps made by students are already available in the iTunes App Store. Most apps are free, but one student decided to make his a 99-cent app.
"Though my app "Bloggarna" you can keep track of the most read (Swedish) fashion bloggers in one app. I'm trying to imagine what we can do in six months, if we can do this in two weeks...
says Nils Dunsö, who also notes that his app is currently climbing among the 15 most popular apps in entertainment.
The School has one year courses and the students work on their projects from idea to the technical execution for all kinds of apps aimed at the iTunes and Android market. Like most schools in Sweden the education is free, but the studies are far more hands on and practical rather than only theoretical. Next chance to apply is in April 2011. So, all ye wanting to hire iPhone & Android developers, your prayers have been answered, they're learning right now.
Director Michael Shapiro Joins Bully Pictures
Bully Pictures has expanded its directorial roster, signing Michael Shapiro for exclusive, US representation. Shapiro brings more than ten years of experience in directing spots, including work for Nike, Energizer, Bank of America and AT&T to name a bunch.
Shapiro, who has already completed his first project with Bully, a new campaign for Home Depot out of The Richards Group, Dallas, said he was impressed both by the quality and the quantity of the work emanating from Bully, and by its energy and enthusiasm. “When I met with Bully, the place was buzzing,” recalls Shapiro. “And I went with that positive vibe. Since I’ve been here, we’ve been actively bidding, booked three projects, and have several more pending.”
"Come here and arrest me. I double-dare you."

The hypothetical police officer MATT is talking about the Child Protection Foundation of Thailand - "branded for life" campaign of 2008. These emails are actually cheering me up, as they prove the new site design is making old posts easier for random visitors to find, I guess.
