Ooops -- I meant "Datsun Saves" ... not Nissan!Posted: 7 years 8 weeks agoon the post: VW / Volkswagen Jetta - Safe Happens - Like (2006) :30 (USA)

This this shocked the hell out of me when I first saw it on TV. Big kudos for VW for showing what a smashed up Jetta looks like outside of a test center. I was pretty amazed they even used a smashed up car for the traditional "beauty shot" at the end of the spot. I think the play on words is getting lost. After the wreck, the guy goes, "Holy..." and of course the next word would be "shit." But then the beauty shot with the slogan, "Safe Happens" (instead of "shit happens"). Safe Happens/Shit Happens -- kinda weird. Kinda like the old "Nissan Saves" slogan was taken from "Jesus Saves" -- the slogan is completely seperated from its source.Posted: 7 years 8 weeks agoon the post: VW / Volkswagen Jetta - Safe Happens - Like (2006) :30 (USA)

These "Baby Bob" commercials are horrid. Enough with the talking babies with terrible special effects.Posted: 8 years 21 weeks agoon the post: Quiznos - Baby Bob At The Pool (2005) 0:30 (USA)

Amazing compositing work. I have to wonder if the guy is walking around in his underwear and the clothes are 3D elements. His body is too perfectly aligned for this to be multiple-pass motion control shows. Just brilliant!!Posted: 8 years 40 weeks agoon the post: HP / Hewlett-Packard - Change /The Who (2004) 0:30 (USA)

Hewlett-Packard has a gorgeous new minute long commercial showing in movie theaters in the states. I saw it last week before Aliens vs. Predator in an AMC theater in San Diego. It involves people "plucking" photos out of thin air, instantly freezing the people in the scenes. Other shots include people holding up empty white picture frames to their faces and instantly being frozen in the picture frame. The special effects work in this spot is simply brilliant! Anyone have any idea on the name of this spot (and if Ad-Rag can post a copy of it)?Posted: 8 years 40 weeks agoon the post: Dazzling new H-P spot showing in movie theaters
