The latest campaign launch from Red Tettemer + Partners for their client Burger 21, part of Front Burner Brands. The campaign, What Burgers Would Eat if Burgers Could Eat Burgers™ (oh yes, they TM:ed that), features a number of irresistible burgers from Burger 21’s menu discussing how they want to eat each other. It's not as sexy as you'd think but food-cannibalism is always funny.

Gatorade - I will not stop - (2012) :30 (USA)

For once I can spell out the entire VO copy. Here we go, Usain Bolt read this:

Because of what I have inside. I will not stop. Until there's no competition left. On. The. Planet.

I guess he's got a lot of little orange cubes inside. He eats a lot of little orange cubes. It's like Chaos Emeralds to Sonic the hedgehog.

Kit Kat "have a break" sandwich board man in line at the Apple Store

JWT Amsterdam and Kit Kat teased all those Apple fans lining up for new gear by having a sandwich board sign man stand in line wearing the "Have a break, have a kit kat" logo. Nicely done.

ICA - Midsommar in Arabic / Midsummer explained - (2012) :30 (Sweden)

You should be familiar with the ICA campaign by now. Stig here is the owner of the local ICA, and in this particular ad he is hell-bent on explaining the phenomena of Midsommar (midsummer with wonky Swedish spelling) to our friends and neighbors. That's why he's doing it in what I presume is terrible Arabic.

"At midsummer, the Swede will eat outside. No matter what the weather is like" this is true, and more often than not, it's raining. Still we got all these funky paper plates so we are eating outside goshdarnit.
Stig continues: "Lots of people will nap at the table" - translation, we get hammered.

OLW - Fredagsmys / Teacher, Ballet dancer, Lumberjack / Friday - (2012) :45 (Sweden)

"Det är dags för Fredagsmys" means literally "It's time for the Friday cozy" and we don't mean a tea-cozy. It's time to jump into the couch, put on a movie and maybe a cuppa, have the whole family join be you one or twenty and watch a bit of telly together. Screw "expand market share", own the entire market by owning the expression for this phenomena. Well played, Olw.

Hellmann's recipe receipt - case study - (2012) :30 (Brazil)

How do you increase consumption among your die-hard fans who are already buying Hellman's for their sandwiches? Easy, and a little big-brother-ish, Hellmann's turns your receipt into a personalized recipe by combining the products you just bought into something tasty. Shoppers were pleasantly surprised, perhaps tried something new, and sales of Hellmann's increased in teh supermarket chain where this was done. I reckon Ogilvy Brazil have a good shot in Cannes with this one, what do you think?

Corny - Ooh me so Corny - 2012 The Netherlands

It's all about corny oddvertising.

We already know: the Dutch are crazy. And now they have crazy snacks. With funny names like Corny. And crazy singing rabbits. Is oddvertising the new advertising online?

In the highly amusing introductory commercial developed by Fitzroy Amsterdam, a dubious little rabbit sings a remake of the 90's hit Me So Horny (2 Live Crew) in a repulsively strong German accent. This is done in an attempt to try and woo a girl in a library, much to the annoyance of the surrounding visitors. Now we know for sure: our world is half nuts, half corny.

Burger King - David Beckham Smoothie - (2012) :30 (USA)

Oh David.... You're really playing up on that handsome guy schtick aren't you? Oh, hang on, he's the smoothie. Dearie me, it's not only cheezy, it's a pun too.

Bering: Fisherman's Tale (Russia)

Playing off the old fish tale "this big, honest" for canned fish is pretty funny!
Unless you think about it too long. Because then you say "Wait a second, those fish tales are always about the one that got away, so why would a guy be telling a story about the size of a can that obviously can't go anywhere."

Gatorade G Series - Own the First Move - (2012) :30 (USA)

It looks like starburst in Gatorade wrappers and are probably just as useless but hey, anything is better than downing a frickin' fivethousand-calorie Mocha Coconut Frappuccino with whip cream, or snorting ten kinds of double carbon-carbon extra fatty saturated trans fat foods. Right? Right! Sheesh, and you kids thinks ads don't teach you nothing. Consider yourselves edumucated.

T.G.I Friday - Two for ten - (2012) :30 (USA)

Posted by dabitch on 25. May 2012 - 7:42

So at T.G.I Friday's an entrée plus an appetizer or dessert is just ten bucks... and this ad seems to be selling Friday's as the number one meat market hookup joint... Everyone seems to want to hookup with the servers though. Oh, right. They're just ordering. Sure.

Aside from that, the electro-naughts dance-punk soundtrack seems heavily inspired by Daft Punk Is Playing at My House, from LCD Soundsystems slamming debut album in 05. Pitchfork noticed the soundalike. Insert joke about Murphy's law here.

Little Baby's Ice Cream - Love Lickers - (2012) :30 (USA)

Mcdonald's and DDB got together with PKP (Polish State Railways) to create this digital updated timetable that showed train departures and measured time until departure in food items from McDonald's one would have time to devour. Instead of hanging out on a boring old platform, travelers took to the McDonald's for a bite to eat.

Canadian Beef Bacon Company - Kosher Bacon - (2012) :30 (Canada)

Red Lion, and FamilyStyle directors Jon & Torey, went to Israel to find out what people might be willing to give up for a chance at some bacon. Their cigarettes, the red sea, their goat ... and their wife. Hell, they'll even give up candy. For what? Kosher Bacon. Kosher what?

"Of course the idea is very tongue-in-cheek," says Brett Channer, Chief Creative Officer, Red Lion. "We felt comfortable asking it because we are promoting a product that is respectful to the Jewish Culture."

Ah okay. So you've made kosher bacon. Sorta, It's beef, not pig. What mishegoss.
