Volkswagen - "Toss" - (2013) :30 (USA)
The dad & son bonding moment, where dad, still in suitpants and tie, is tossing a ball with his son. They both throw like they are weak orangutans, so the car behind dad is safe from any possible dents. & even if it wasn't, it's as reliable as a VW is, so it'll bring that kid to college one day, which he will not be attending thanks to any baseball scholarship, clearly.
Expedia - Find Your Understanding - Wedding - (2012)
Oy, we're a bit heavy on the violins here Expedia... But then again, it is a wedding and swelling violins are as much part of that as kleenex and white dresses. The journey here is taken by the father Artie Goldstein, who has to come to terms with the fact that his daughter is marrying another woman. The cold hearted cynic in me is gruffing that of course the gay couple depicted are two gorgeous women, instead of two men with an age-difference, while the romantic zap in me is grasping for kleenex at daddy's speech. Hush! Now lets cut the cake.
This is part of Expedia's campaign "find yours", emphasizing the journeys we take when we travel. We know how to book a flight, but the old tagline "Where you book matters" doesn't matter anymore.
Thai Life Insurance - Silence of Love - (2011) 3:00 (Thailand)
Thai ads turn me into a puddle of sobs, or a puddle of laughter. This is the sob variety, bring kleenex, which Ogilvy & Mather Bangkok now owe me a shipment of.
The teenage daughter is ashamed, and bullied, about her mute father. She wants a "normal" dad, one that understands her, one that can hear her shout. If this ad doesn't make you cry a little, you've worked far too long in advertising and need a vacation.
Samsung - Cravings - (2011) :30 (US)
The VIA Agency created this spot for Samsung to highlight the wifi-enabled touchscreen available on the Samsung four-door fridge.
McDonald's - Class Photo / Gay son - (2010)
Chicago Tribune interview with McDonald's chief of operations Don Thompson
Tribune: A French TV ad featuring a gay teen and his father has stirred some controversy — not there, but here. Can you talk about that?
Toyota Yaris - Clean Getaways - (2009) :30 (Australia)
This ad was the winner in the Saatchi & Saatchi clever film competition.
Sears - Die Hard - (1975) 0:30 (USA)
I wouldn't mind borrowing the sons car, but that might just be me.
