La Cuidad de la Raqueta "BallRocking" (2013) 1:00 (Spain)
To support one of Europe's biggest tennis schools and motivate the children to keep playing, Grupo JWT turned missed shots into messages of inspiration. Keep trying, guys!
MTV "Tennis Player #Useitdick" (2013) :15 (Brazil)
I was going to snark about how dumb and silly this use a condom campaign is, but then i remembered this is MTV. They obviously know their demographic.
Jungle Energy bars "Fetch" (2013) :30 (South Africa)
Jungle energy bars don't want you to just buy their energy bars, because then they'd be selling you something and not being "social." So along with this fine commercial with an great idea attached (extra energy means you can do extra things) comes the obligatory hoop jumping crowd-sourced social initiative.
In this case it's called One Hour Project. If you join up, add the app to Facebook, show the world what you're doing to make a difference, you might win the grand prize of R15,000. Which is about $1,700 U.S.
Maybe they can partner with 5 Hour Energy and create a six hour project. What would you do whilst cracked out for six hours?
Axe - Morning after pillow (eng) - (2012) 1:45 (Puerto Rico)
Spinning off on the idea that there's only one thing wrong with AXE, the side effect that women want to (*gasp* god forbid!) cuddle post-coital, DDB Latina Puerto Rico have invented the Morning After Pillow. No, not pill. Pillow. Just sneak it under your arm and sneak away. This could be one minute shorter and a lot funnier.
Want to see the pillow in action? Check the facebook page where it's being used at a party
Flamingo Casino - Meet the family - (2012) :30 (USA)
Peter Dietrich directs this BBDO SF spec effort for Flamingo Casino.
The idea is you'll get a lot of deals when you get on Flamingo Las Vegas' website.
The spot is...well, basically, a dude meets his girlfriend's family and they're all hot. Including the sexy mermaid goldfish and the dad who is a hot chick with a dad's voice. Because the boyfriend gets more than he bargained for. Or something.
It feels like it's a Bud Light spot transplanted as a Las Vegas resort hotel spot.
What does one say to this?
Beyond the sexy lady factor there's not much to say about it that can redeem it into anything approaching interesting or good.
Bavaria - Hugh Hefner - (2011)
For those not familiar with the taglines history: "Zo" stems from "Zo. Nu eerst een Bavaria." which comes from the insight that a beer tastes a lot better after you've done hard work to deserve it, thus: "Now, a Bavaria" as the answer to countless funny ads depicting people doing clever or not-so-hard-work to finally deserve the beer.
In Hugh Hefners case, he first need to keep all his lady friends happy all day. Nice work if you can get it.
Absolut - Lemon Drop the movie - featuring Ali Larter (2010)
If you've been holding your breath since we posted the Ali Carter Lemon Drop Absolut Trailer July 1, exhale. We have the ten minute film. They've gone all the way retro, with badly edited cuts, hair in the gate and a soundtrack that is right groovy all the way through, and even made a very retro movie poster to fit with it.
Western & Southern Financial Group - Stability - (2010) :30 (USA)
Stability features a similarly poised and confident woman, standing atop a pair of stilts as a team of white-coated operatives with a giant fan, a lasso-wielding cowboy on horseback, and a villainous man arming a tennis ball-shooting machine all try to dislodge her - with no luck.
Anta Sport - Beatiful game / Deuce - (2009) :30 (China)
This commercial features a stylized match between two top world ranked female tennis players. It was shot on two continents; in Malaga, Spain where Jelena Jancovic was playing in a tournament and Beijing, China where Zheng Jie was busy training. In Shanghai Andy McGraw from Cut+Run then united the players via the magic of editing, with post and effects created and applied in Hong Kong.
