Right. On a mac, you either "long click" (that means hold the mouse-button down until you get a pop-up menu) or right click until you see this menu. Choose the "set as desktop image" option. Ta-dah. You're done.

On Windows Vista, save the picture in the pictures folder. (you can right click on an image to download it from a website and choose he folder you wish to download it to)
To set a picture as a background - open it, right click and then "select as background".

For any other operating system, please refer to your handbook that came with it.
