NZ Book Council - Going West - (2009) 2:11 (New Zealand)
This two minute journey of words through the paper animation of the pages in a book is... quite hypnotic.
Konzerthaus Dortmund - Classical music milk / Concert milk
Jung von Matt gets attention for the concert hall - Konzerthaus Dortmund - by selling "concert-milk" made from the milk of cows who listened to classical music.
Shell - The Pedestrian Ghost - Slowing down drivers by releasing ghosts.
To stop reckless drivers in the Ukraine, a special device was built that would release a "human shaped balloon" at a pedestrian crossing, so the driver would have no choice but to show down. (in quite a panicked reaction, I might add).
Scary. I know I would freak the hell out of I saw this on a dark road. The device is also pretty clever in how it'll only release a ghost if the driver is speeding quite a bit, not when the drivers are sticking to the limit. I wonder if any of these ghosts caused an accident due to swerving-to-avoid-collision reactions?
Either way, impressive.
Lingen's Blond - Alles Onder Controle / Fish desert - (1997) :30 (The Netherlands)
So surreal!
Jung von Matt - Trojan Recruiting - photographers portfolios as adspace
Jung von Matt took poaching to a whole new level when they sent 15 different photographers to other agencies to show off their portfolios, and every image has a sneaky little ad within the photo saying that Jung von Matt was looking for Art Directors. It was stitched into sweaters, seen as graffiti on the background wall, or as an inscription on a bus. So very very clever we might see this in Cannes.
Comviq - Veronica Maggio single launched on ringback tone service - (2011)
Ever since Veronica Maggio debuted on the music scene in Sweden, Swedes have gone gaga over her (pun! Sorry). She's a breath a of fresh air, on the cover of every magazine, she's skyrocketed to the top of Spotify's most listened to list, and her new single launched via telephone ringtone. Yep. No, not the ringtone on the phone, rather the "Ringback tones service" from Comviq where a song of your choice replaces the dull dial-tone you'd otherwise hear when calling someone.
Schweppes - John Cleese Taste - (1991) 0:60 (UK)
John Cleese and co-star take the piss of the CK ads at the time. Sorry about the slight wobble in the tape.
Golden Grahams - Oh those Golden Grahams - (1977) :30 (USA)
I don't know if it was the silouette of Grahams pouring into a bowl with the sun behind it, or the annoyingly catchy jingle - all I know is that I begged mom for this stuff and only got it on special occasions because it was chock-full of sugar. My favorite cereal by far when I was a kid.
Baby Carrots - Extreme - (2010) :30 (USA)
The third ad from Crispin Porter + Bogusky shiling baby carrots as if they were junk food. I must admit, this ad is one helluva spoof.
