Upitch - a tinder for journalists and I bet the VC funding rained over them when they said that.

"Upitch has been dubbed, "Tinder for Journalists." It's a mobile pitching/news sharing app for everyone else - PR, brands, non-profits, tech startups, etc. The app is free for everyone, and always will be. Journalists filter for their interests and swipe through 400 character pitches and news, anonymously."

Free forever, huh?

So who is paying the devteam & everyone that are working on this app?

"Open the app, choose topic filters, and start swiping. If you swipe right on a pitch, either party can contact the other via our in-app messenger. Swipe left & you remain anonymous and move on to the next pitch in your targeted swipe feed."

That really is like Tinder, on the nose like Tinder.

So, obviously, the people whos PR is pitched via the app are the funders of the app, hence it will remain free for journalists to use. PR agencies and PR reps have something valuable for their clients, and that is actual connections. I don't think an app where we swipe can replace that. I do suppose though, for a budding blogger, this might be fun.

Their pitch continues:

Journalists from these outlets have downloaded Upitch:

NY Times, NY Daily News, Washington Post, Toronto Star, Toronto Sun, Houston Chronicle, San Francisco Business Times, Palm Beach Post, Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Daily News, CNN, FOX News, MSNBC, CBS News, Los Angeles Business Journal, USA TODAY, Bloomberg, TIME, The Hollywood Reporter, Boston Herald, National Geographic, Christian Broadcasting Network, Jewish Broadcasting Service, TheStreet, Mic.com, Entrepreneur, U.S. News & World Report, AutoWeek, Esquire, Forbes, Rachael Ray Show, Dr. Oz Show, NEW YOU Magazine, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Woman's World Magazine, Teen VOGUE, VOGUE Italia, Dr. Oz: The Good Life, Robb Report, SheKnows, AskMen, ESPN, various Clear Channel/IHeartMedia/Cumulus radio stations, 1010 WINS radio, The Weather Channel, Mother Nature Network, bloggers across all beats, network news affiliates throughout the U.S. and more.

I'll assume that they did it for the same reason that I did. To see if and how the app worked. If we're going to write about something, we have to check it out. Hence the title "journalists".

Anyway, it's here in the iTunes store if you fancy.
