Obama roasts Trump at White House Correspondence Dinner, Trump's old ads back to haunt him.

Mahalo!
President Obama flexed his comedy muscles at the at the recent White House Correspondence Dinner. He opened with an all American music video showing off his birth certificate, and then went on to show his birth video - or rather, a scene from the Lion King. At around 9:40 minutes in, President Barack Obama starts poking fun a Donald Trump.

"Donald Trump often talks about running as a Republican, which is surprising. I just assumed he was running as a joke"

Donald on the other hand, didn't think it was all that funny: Trump says jokes about him by Obama, Meyers were 'inappropriate'. Trump responded (smooth like a good politician mind you)

"I don't think the American people are having a good time paying $5 gasoline and their clothing prices doubling and all of the other problems that they've got," Trump said. "You look at what's happening with food, so I was thinking to myself as they were doing this, the American people are suffering and we're all having a good time. I think it's inappropriate in certain respects, but I thought the delivery was good."

There's an ad-twist on this. In 1989, Trump paid $85,000 for full-page ads in four city newspapers in calling for the death penalty for the alleged rapists in the infamous Central Park Jogger case. Five young men were convicted on confessions they made, which were the result of coercion by the NYPD. In 2002 a man already in prison confessed to the crime, his DNA was on the victim to prove it, and the only DNA found. The young mens convictions were voided.

If Donald Trump had been in charge, they would have been dead. One of the young men exonerated Raymond Santana, is demanding an apology from the real estate mogul who is now considering a run for president. Santana was 14 years old at the time. He says Trump's call for the "death penalty" helped fuel the media firestorm before the suspects even went to trial.

"It says a lot about his character. If he can give the death penalty to 14-year-old, 15-year-old kids then there's nothing he would not do. Those are characteristics of a tyrant, not characteristics of a president"
