Will Chile win the world cup and make Marcelo Bielsa a saint?

The idea behind this digital effort is to get three miracles to happen. The first one has already happened for Chile, they qualified for the world cup! Now the other two are making it to the second round, and finally winning the world cup. At www.prendeleunavela.cl serious Chilean football fans can help make this happen by lighting digital candles. If all three miracles happen, Marcelo Bielsa will be declared a saint (at least by everyone who is Chilean). Chile hasn't been to the world cup since 1962, when they finished a respectable third. With the youngest team in the cup, naiveté and bravery make Chile the dark horse, they may very well upset a few teams this year. Spain has never lost to Honduras, Switzerland, or Chile in an international match - perhaps all this will change June 25th if we light enough candles?

The Soccer Fans Association of Chile (Asociación de Fanáticos del Fútbol Chileno, AFFC) are calling upon football fans to light a candle for Chilean football team coach, Marcelo Bielsa in a bid for his canonisation.
In support of the mission, Grey Chile developed www.prendeleunavela.cl, a digital sanctuary where users can light a virtual candle in support of ‘San Marcelino’ and leave messages of encouragement.
In only ten days, more than 70 thousand candles were lit and the website received visits from over 75 countries. If Bielsa defies the odds and succeeds in performing all three miracles, an application will be made to the Vatican requesting his sainthood.
“The idea was to mobilise people and bring them together to achieve one common goal – to ignite their passion for football and to celebrate in the current success the Chilean Team is having”, states Santiago Puiggari, President and CEO of Grey Argentina and Chile. He continues, “With no media budget, the campaign had to be able to grow on its own, winning public and media support. Using social networks as the main media, we triggered unprecedented press coverage for the campaign.”
The campaign made the front-page of “Las Últimas Noticias”, one of Chile’s most popular newspapers, and was featured in the main public TV channels in Chile (Channel 13, TVN, Mega and Chilevisión), covered by international channels such as ESPN, TyC Sports, CNN Chile and TN Argentina; as well as the main news agencies worldwide.
