The One Show have made a documentary, the antidote to one of our most popular soap operas "Mad Men". The Real Mad Men which will air on channel Thirteen, talks to the legends, the famous men and women of Madison Avenue during the height of the creative revolution. They interview George Lois (author of What's the big idea), Mary Wells Awesome, sorry, Lawrence, (author of A Big Life), Jerry Della Femina, Roy Eaton, Jane Maas, Paula Green, and Len Sirowitz. They talk about Doyle Dane Bernbach, Ogilvy & Mather, and the brand campaigns that made them famous like Avis, Dove, Hathaway, Levy’s, Schweppes and Volkswagen. These epic ads have been harped over ad infinitum (pardon the pun), but they are still the blueprint from which all advertising ideas are made.
The Real Mad Men and Mad Women of Madison Avenue will air 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. this Sunday on PBS. Ladies and gentlemen, set your Tivos.
