Sweden's women's organizations launch campaign to reclaim the ad space in Stockholm subway #reklamera

In a press release, Sweden's women's organizations explain that this concept is to engage the public and lobby politicians to ban sexist advertising in public spaces in Stockholm's subway.

Public transport has become a gallery for sexist advertising. At the bus stop, the commuter train, the platform and in the subway - everywhere we are met by advertisements filled with sexualized female bodies. Being constantly fed with stereotypical gender roles is an obstacle to gender equality and a public health issue. With a new campaign, Sweden's Women's Organizations take back the space!
The purpose of the campaign is, together with the public, to pressure companies and the advertising industry to take responsibility and call on politicians to introduce a ban on sexist advertising.

"There you stand and are fed with messages about everything that is wrong with your body."
Headline: "space reserved for naked retouched girl"

The billboards explain that "sexist advertising makes women feel bad and want to change their bodies" then encourage commuters to photograph sexist ads and tag it with #reklamera on Facebook so that they collect a mountain of evidence of what people really see in the subway.

"What would the subway be without some half-naked female bodies? #reklamera"
